DIVERSITY MATTERS

As racial inequities and tensions have gripped the nation, our leadership realizes that there is much more we can do to foster diversity within our family of hospitals, and throughout the veterinary field as a whole.

Ours is a business based on healing and compassion. Our value of kindness goes far beyond the animals we serve. We’d be nowhere without each other and the individual differences that add richness to our company culture. A wide variety of backgrounds, personalities and perspectives enhances our ability to provide the best possible care to the pets and families we serve.

The Compassion-First Pet Hospitals Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Task Force is constantly developing concrete initiatives and goals to ensure that our actions line up with our principles. We strive to impact educational opportunities, inclusion training, community support and more.

A group like ours is in the position to push hard on making this country a more inclusive and equitable place, and that’s an opportunity we can’t afford to miss.

Actions speak louder than words

It isn’t enough to just talk about diversifying our team, company, and community. Change requires action. Here’s what we’re doing to make a long-lasting, sustainable impact on the veterinary industry.

Our Commitment

  • Keeping our interview panels diverse.
  • Ensuring that “not a culture fit” is not code for “isn’t like us” in the hiring process.
  • Measuring diversity on a periodic basis to see how we’re doing.
  • Focusing on our culture and being very clear through words & actions about what is acceptable and not acceptable behavior.
  • We work to provide an environment that is safe, equitable, welcoming, and free of bias, discrimination, and harassment.

We grow better together
